About Ann M. Hodges, Psy.D.
I have specialized training in working with individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). My experiences as a teacher, counselor, and mother enables me to connect with children, adolescents, and their parents when confronting numerous stressors and problems facing families today.
I vew individuals as a unique blend of temperament, giftedness and life experience. By developing a trusting empathic relationship I am able to deeply understand their life challenges and assist them in discovering solutions to their problems.
As a Clinical Psychologist with more than 30 years of experience, I use this eclectic perspective to work with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as couples and families. I began my career after graduating from the University of Texas as a teacher for emotionally challenged adolescents. Upon completing a Master's Degree from the University of Houston, I worked as a Counselor in the schools. I returned to Houston after my doctoral program and completed my internship at Baylor College of Medicine. I initially worked in a psychiatric hospital providing services for individuals with serious mental illnesses, and then in a medical-surgery hospital with patients having health problems exacerbated by stress and substance abuse. This diverse experience enables me to work successfully with individuals with a variety of issues.
